Description
The town of Deadhorse took cover and peered from behind its windows when the gun-hung desperado, Bret Redfern, swaggered out on the canyon bridge and stationed himself for a showdown. Only one man dared defy the bully. Hal Wade, Arizona trail boss, aimed to cross Death River and deliver his cattle without paying a toll to Redfern. It was the beginning of skirmishes between the two, for Redfern ramrodded the town. And when Wade insisted on sending the gold he’d received for his longhorns by Wells Fargo instead of by the express company Redfern controlled, he practically bought himself a one-way ticket to Boothill.
