Description
No one knew very much about John Salem except that he was a simple-minded soul who meant no harm. But certain people were making vicious taunts at him — particularly popular Ed Ferguson, who liked to call him “Dumb John.” One day, driven to the breaking point, John made the fatal mistake of shooting his provoker dead in front of twenty witnesses. Then he made the mistake of grabbing Jake Wilson’s prized Morgan to make his escape. The angered townspeople sought revenge and lynched him as soon as they caught him. Only then was Dumb John’s true identity revealed — and the town recoiled in terror.
