Description
No matter how strange, difficult and absurd the world becomes, some things never change: the importance of home, of love, of kindness to strangers and of memories and dreams. Australia’s rural towns are closing down and much of the country is being sold to overseas interests. The town matriarch, Granna Adams, her grandson Roberto and the lonely and thoughtful Clare – all try in their own way not to shut down, even as the world around them does.

Professional reviews
"What do you do when everything familiar is lost? Closing Down gives us a glimpse into a world fractured by financial crisis and the effects of global climate change. An extraordinary debut novel from an exciting new voice in Australian fiction."
