 AUDIO PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

ALLEN & UNWIN AND WAVESOUND TO COLLABORATE AND BRING LEADING PRINT TITLES TO LIFE AS AUDIOBOOKS

Allen & Unwin and Wavesound are delighted to announce an audio publishing partnership between the two companies that will see the majority of Allen & Unwin titles produced as audiobooks. A key development of the partnership is a co-publishing programme that will initially see Allen & Unwin and Wavesound co-publish up to a dozen audio titles a year, simultaneously released alongside the print and ebook editions.

Tom Gilliatt, Allen & Unwin’s publishing director says:
‘Allen & Unwin is excited to become publisher of audiobooks in a climate where more and more readers are enjoying our titles in audio. In particular, we’re delighted to be working with Wavesound. Since starting their audio publishing in Australia they have always supported emerging and established local writers of the highest caliber, publishing many Allen & Unwin authors over the years, including their recent commitment to publishing the audio edition of The Australian/Vogel’s Literary Prize. They are also an independent company with a significant global reach, and major market share in both the US and UK, as well as Australia, which we believe makes them the perfect partner for Allen & Unwin.’

Chiara Priorelli, Wavesound’s acquisitions manager says:
‘Wavesound is thrilled to have cemented a strong partnership with Allen & Unwin. We have always admired their publishing list and have indeed been proud to publish many of their authors such as Sofie Laguna, Charlotte Wood, Fleur McDonald, Karly Lane and newcomers such as Chris Hammer and Holly Wainwright. Allen & Unwin continue to produce such an exciting and diverse range of quality fiction and non-fiction titles and their passion for championing local Australian talent mirrors our own. This felt like a very natural collaboration for us and we look forward to working with them to bring more of their fine writers to a larger audience in audio across both the retail and library markets.

The following titles will be part of the co-publication launch program:
  • Memory Craft by Lynne Kelly
  • Six Minutes by Petronella McGovern
  • Where the Dead Go by Sarah Bailey
  • Life Sentence by Carl Williams
  • Bruny by Heather Rose
  • Pain and Prejudice by Gabrielle Jackson
  • The Weekend by Charlotte Wood
